For us here in India the year 2020 marks the 50 year milestone of the New Apostolic Church in the country. Members and ministers across different congregations in the country excitedly prepared for this year of celebration while holding steadfast to the motto “Christ Makes Free”. However, before many of us even had the chance to begin the year, an unpredictable, viral disease swept across the globe bringing everything to a sudden halt! This outbreak of the virus Covid-19 has officially been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization and various guidelines and restrictions were put in place in order to combat and curb the spread of the disease.
In India, Divine Services and choir practices were running smoothly until we received a letter from our District Apostle Helper David G. Devaraj on 19th March, 2020. The letter stated that all gatherings and church activities, including Divine Services, will be suspended until the 5th of April, 2020. This mandate came as a shock to many, since members were seeking solace and comfort in the Divine Services.
