The Good Shepherd has his own sheep: The sheep hear his voice, recognize his voice and follow him. They do not know the voice of strangers. The shepherd loves them and leads them to green pastures near still waters.
For the year 2017, our beloved Chief Apostle has given us a very beautiful motto “Glory be to God, our Father” based on the bible verse from Philippians 4:20. As being spiritual sheep, let us go and walk in the direction shown by the Holy Spirit.
We go to schools, work in offices, hospitals, banks, farms and so on, to fulfil our earthly needs, desires, and plans. We work hard for earthly things which are perishing but often forget to work on our own soul salvation which will give us eternal life, eternal fellowship with God and eternal joy. We can hope for these things by giving Glory to our Heavenly Father.
It is easy to look up to the sky and say “Glory be to God”, and it is also easy to put up a WhatsApp status or a post on Facebook, saying that “I will give Glory to our God”. Let us look at the following points which will help us glorifying our Heavenly Father in a praiseworthy manner.
How can we glorify God, our Father?
Jesus did not seek his own Glory but he always glorified his Father. He glorified God, by His words and deeds. Let us not seek praises from mankind and put our own interests first while doing God’s work. As Apostle Paul writes: “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the Glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). Let us Glorify God by our words, deeds and all that we possess.
We hear the living word of God from the “altar of Grace” and then we glorify the Father and give honour to Him by acting in a God-fearing and loving manner. Then people can see the good works of our Heavenly Father and they will also glorify Him. Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
Jesus said, “I always do those things that please Him”. Let us, too do things that please our Father. Let us love our God above all. We can glorify our God by recognizing His greatness, by being thankful to Him for His gifts and by behaving like children of God: Let us imitate Jesus Christ and follow the path shown by the Holy Spirit who will teach us to glorify God in every situation.
