On December 15, 2024, a monumental moment unfolded in the history of the New Apostolic Church in India. Apostle Prabhakar was assigned as the "Lead Apostle" for India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, by our District Apostle Mark Woll in Hyderabad. This marks a new chapter in our journey, and we are filled with faith and anticipation for the future.
A Spirit-Led Decision
The decision to assign a leader for such a crucial role was not taken lightly. As District Apostle Helper David Devaraj reflects, “Choosing a future leader was not an easy decision as many of the Apostles possess the experience and leadership qualities needed for this role. What remained was a clear conclusion. One sure way I have experienced this is to lean on your ‘bearer of blessing’ for divine guidance. As always, my spiritual guide in our District Apostle Mark Woll came to my aid. We deliberated and discussed this over time. Prayed ardently over it. Considered the thoughts of other spiritual leaders (including the active Apostles in India), which led us to a clear and well-founded decision.”
This thoughtful process, rooted in prayer and consultation with other leaders, gave birth to a decision that assures us of the path ahead. With the Holy Spirit’s guidance and the support of our leadership, we trust that Apostle Prabhakar is well-equipped for this role. He will work alongside District Apostle Helper David Devaraj to learn the ropes and responsibilities ensuring that our Church’s leadership remains strong and inspired.
A Journey of Dedication and Growth
Born on October 13, 1978, in Hyderabad, Southern India, Apostle Prabhakar grew up in a Christian household. His parents, originally from Beeri (K) in Northern Karnataka, embraced Christianity before his birth and relocated to Hyderabad over 40 years ago. It was in Hyderabad that they joined the New Apostolic Church at the Sanjay Nagar Congregation, where Apostle Prabhakar received the sacrament of Holy Sealing on August 19, 1986.
Raised in Hyderabad, Apostle Prabhakar pursued his education there earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, and Sociology from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad. In 2002, he married Sabitha, and they were blessed with two children.
Initially, Apostle Prabhakar worked in his father’s goods transport business and later pursued a career in sales with electronics companies such as Videocon and Samsung. In 2014, he transitioned to a full-time role in the Translation and Printing Department in the New Apostolic Church India.
Path to Apostleship
Apostle Prabhakar’s journey within the Church has been one of continuous growth and ever-increasing responsibility. Starting with his ordination as Deacon on February 20, 1992, and later as Priest on June 5, 1998, he steadily advanced through various roles, each reflecting his deepening commitment to God's work. His ordination as an Apostle on November 12, 2017, by Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider in Raipur, India, marked a significant milestone in his spiritual journey. Now, as the newly assigned Lead Apostle, Apostle Prabhakar’s leadership continues to evolve, as he faithfully serves the New Apostolic Church in the years to come.
Throughout his ministry, he has served and overseen numerous congregations across the Hyderabad District in Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh. His fluency in multiple languages (English, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu) enabled him to oversee the translation and printing efforts in India since 2014, helping to strengthen our spiritual communication across the country.
Forward in Faith
Reflecting on this calling, Apostle Prabhakar shares, “It has come to me as a surprise. I am happy and nervous about it as it is a big responsibility. I trust in God, who has guided me thus far and will continue to do so in this role and responsibility. At the same time, I have a blessing bearer [spiritual mentor], District Apostle Helper David Devaraj, who has already taught us a lot. I’m sure I will be learning much more in the coming days.” He continues that he would like to carry forward what has been done by his predecessors and make sure God is happy with the work he does.
As Apostle Prabhakar takes on his new role, we stand united in prayer and hope. With the guidance of District Apostle Helper David Devaraj and the support of our members, we look forward to Apostle Prabhakar leading us with grace, wisdom, and faith.
May God’s guidance and the Holy Spirit empower Apostle Prabhakar to serve faithfully in this role.
