Today, we honor the life of Apostle Herald Kirti Kumar Jacob who left us for his eternal rest on 16 November 2023. His journey culminated in a profound legacy, having touched countless lives with his devotion and love for God.
Just days before his passing, Apostle Jacob traveled to Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, on 13 November 2023 to participate in an event with our Chief Apostle. That evening, he joined a gathering organized for retired Apostles, Bishops, and their wives, where he shared a joyful dinner with our Chief Apostle, alongside his dear companions and guests.
Regrettably, later that night, he began to experience chest pain and difficulty breathing. Despite swift medical intervention, he passed away on 16 November.
A Journey of Ministry and Dedication
Born on 20 December 1953, Apostle Jacob was raised in a family deeply rooted in Christian tradition. Yet it was only after his sealing in 1972 that he experienced true spiritual peace. In 1985, he was ordained as a Priest, and two years later, on 31 October 1987, he was entrusted with the Apostle Ministry in New York.
This pivotal moment marked the beginning of his lifelong journey in the service of God, during which he traversed challenging and remote areas of India, including Bihar and Kolkata, to spread the Gospel and support communities of faith. His contributions extended beyond India as he tirelessly worked to establish and nurture congregations in Nepal, persisting through economic and political turmoil.
His 26 years of apostolic service, until his retirement on 7 November 2013, were marked by resilience and a profound dedication to his calling. His impact remains strong in the communities of India and Nepal, where he left a legacy of faith, love, and devotion.
A Farewell of Love and Lasting Legacy
The funeral service for Apostle Jacob was held on Sunday, 19 November 2023, at the Christian Church Council Cemetery in Nehrunagar, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. District Apostle Mark Woll presided over the service, offering words of solace and remembrance to the congregation, Apostle Jacob’s family, and those who traveled from nearby communities to pay their respects.
Retired Apostles Morris Lal, Michael Naik, and Bishop Samantha Kumar were among those mourning the loss of their dear friend and colleague. In his message, District Apostle Woll emphasized the Apostle’s commitment to his faith and the lasting impression he left on those he served.
Apostle Jacob’s work was not confined to the here and now; his legacy lives on, with the belief that he will continue his ministry among the departed. As we remember Apostle Jacob, we extend our prayers to his family—his wife, Kiran Jacob, his son, Kingsley Jacob, and his daughter, Kristeen Jacob.
May Apostle Jacob find eternal peace in God’s embrace, and may his memory continue to guide us in faith.
