Holy Baptism

Fundamental Act of God’s Grace

Holy Baptism with water is the first and fundamental act of grace of the triune God upon a human being. Through baptism, original sin is washed away and the baptised human being is incorporated into the fellowship of all those who believe in Jesus Christ and profess Him as their Lord. Thereby the triune God opens the way for human beings to attain salvation in Christ.

The person to be baptised vows to avoid sin and live a life of following Christ.

Children can also receive the sacrament of Holy Baptism with water. Their parents profess belief in the gospel on their behalf. The parents promise to raise their child to believe in the gospel.

Baptisms dispensed in other Christian denominations are recognised as long as they are performed with water in the name of the triune God.
