Word of the Month for December 2017
Christmas is a celebration of love, a celebration of joy, a celebration of peace, and a celebration of contemplation. For many who are not well acquainted with the Christian origins and content of the Christmas celebration, Christmas is primarily a celebration of giving gifts and a celebration of the family. But even with all of these descriptions, the significance of this festive event has not yet been exhausted.
The birth of Jesus, the incarnation of the Son of God, is—above all—a sign of the omnipotence of God. In unmistakable terms, Christmas demonstrates to the whole world: God will not allow Himself to be deterred from liberating the world from the power of the evil one. God desires to save all human beings. He pursues this objective with all His might. Inexorably. No one will prevent God from granting salvation and redemption to mankind. Nothing was able to prevent Him from realising His objective of conquering sin and death once and for all. Christmas shows us that God’s love is stronger than all hatred, that God’s love is greater than all guilt.
God is almighty. Nothing will prevent Him from leading you and me into eternal fellowship with Him. Nothing can prevent Him from delivering you and me from all evil. And nothing and no one can ever tear us out of the hand of God. It is to this end that He gave us His Son.
